Scott Reed

Co-Founder & CEO

Scott Reed is Co-Founder and CEO at Proper Post. He is an Executive, Producer, UPM & Post Production Supervisor with over 20 years experience in film production, post production, production financing, marketing, sales and delivery.

Scott specializes in live action and animated features, series, commercials, live special events, theme park rides, video games and online marketing campaigns in all media and across all platforms.

Some of Scott’s recent credits include, “Break The Cycle” starring Cuba Gooding Jr., “Gunslingers” starring Nicolas Cage, “The Comic Shop” starring Jesse Metcalf, “Cut Throat City”, starring Ethan Hawke, and “Running With the Devil” starring Nicolas Cage and Laurence Fishburne.

Malachi Marlan 

Co-Founder & COO

Malachi Marlan is media executive, COO, and Head of Sales and Marketing at Proper Post.  Malachi leads business development and client relations for the company’s post-production and supervision services. Marlan began his career at Alta Global Media as an Executive Coordinator, working under the auspices of prolific VFX Executive Producer Steven Adams, supporting the company’s representation of international post-production houses for the U.S. market and facilitating relationships between filmmakers, studios, and post-production partners.

Later, as a Creative Executive, he managed a dynamic slate of international films and talent, helping to inform and craft packaging, financing, marketing, and management initiatives. At Proper Post, Malachi focuses on building partnerships with filmmakers, producers, and post-production facilities nationwide, helping productions navigate the post-production process while maximizing efficiency, incentives, and creative collaboration

Jason Daks

Director of Sales & Marketing

Jason Daks is a media executive and Director of Sales and Marketing at Proper Post. He recently completed principal photography on the psychological thriller The Good Dark, starring Sherilyn Fenn and Ray Wise.

He began his career as an Associate Producer for Reelz Channel. His experience spans development, production, finance, and sales for companies including New Films International and Largo.AI. He regularly collaborates on projects that have received industry recognition, including films awarded state tax credits. Jason’s passion for storytelling and his ability to navigate the business side of the industry have earned him a reputation as a skilled and insightful producer.

    HEAD OF EDITORIAL

    An award winning editor, Shawn Paper is Head of Editorial at Proper Post, where he leads the company’s creative vision in picture editing across features, series, and emerging formats. Drawing on decades of experience in independent film and high-end television, he is responsible for shaping Proper Post’s editorial culture, building teams, and designing workflows that support both bold creative choices and rigorous craft.

    Chris Berkencamp

    HEAD OF VISUAL EFFECTS

    Chris Berkenkamp is a Post Production Supervisor, Picture Editor and VFX Supervisor with over 15 years experience in film and television. Born in Newport Beach, California, Chris was raised in Phoenix, Arizona where he excelled in English Literature. After receiving a full ride scholarship to study cinema at Loyola Marymount University School of Film and TV he moved to Los Angeles where he currently resides. Some of Chris’s credits include “Break The Cycle”, “The Story of Everything”, “Cut Throat City”, “Running With the Devil”, and “New Kids on the Block” for VH1 Behind The Music to name a few.

    HEAD OF SOUND

    Lisle has decades of experience in Sound Design and Re-Recording on some of Hollywood's biggest Feature Films including Vanilla Sky, Monster's Ball, Blade II, American Hustle and Austin Powers as well as Television classics such as Mad Men, Riverdale, Arrested Development, One Piece and Expats. Lisle brings his Emmy Nominated and multi MPSE Golden Reel Award winning talents to Proper Post as Head of Sound.
