Our Services

Post Supervision is probably one of the most important parts of delivering a top-quality film. From dailies and picture editing to VFX, color, music and sound, the experience that a qualified post supervisor brings to a project, including the talent, facilities and resources will ensure a successful film that moves, has emotion and entertains its audience.

We work directly with your DIT to ensure that dailies are processed and posted the next day so that everyone can review them on the device of their choice, share notes and audition various color schemes, decide what to keep, ditch, etc.

With a stable of top picture editors to choose from, we review the initial assembly and work with the director, DP and producers to ensure that your picture is edited smoothly and soundly with proper transitions in and out of scenes, bringing out the very best of what was shot. We make sure that every single take and every single shot is thoroughly reviewed so what is ultimately used delivers the best look, performance and end result.
Creatively, the buck stops with the director and it is up to the post supervisor to ensure that the director has enough time to bring his or her vision to life and that the director’s cut represents the best shots, scenes and performances that vision. Then we bring in the producers, make notes, take notes and work with the editor for an additional 1-2 weeks, where we dial everything in per everyone’s notes and ensure that the picture is pristine and clean and properly managed to everyone’s satisfaction. - Then we lock picture.

In today’s every expanding market of available technology and resources, VFX, VR and AI have taken center stage. With the expanded talent and resources Proper Post provides and the specific needs of each feature film, our award-winning team of artists will provide the highest quality VFX and VR using a hybrid approach that can include some AI shortcuts. For example, we can create characters and additional shots that would normally take two months to create in two days and for a fraction of the cost.

Once picture is locked, we deliver the film to VFX, Color, Music and Sound. We set up spotting sessions with each department and run through the entire film so that everything is laid out in advance, ensuring a downhill approach to creating the best VFX, Color, Music and Sound possible.

Once the VFX are delivered to the post house and the picture is locked, we enter the color stage. Here, we dial in the look and feel of the film with the Director and DP. Here, they can darken or lighten select areas of the picture, set a separate look up table (LUT) or enhance specific parts of a shot or scene, increasing or decreasing color, lighten or darken skin tone and make almost any type of adjustment from changing the color of an actor’s eyes, creating an audience, cleaning up blown out backgrounds and more.

Whether you choose a well-known, famous song or an already cleared library with free music, our Music Supervisors will bring the most choices, maintain the music budget and ensure each song is properly cleared on both sides so that a proper Music Cue Sheet can be prepared.

Having personally worked with dozens of top, award winning composers and musicians from John Williams to Dhani Harrison, Proper Post has remote orchestras available and at the ready, who will provide the most appropriate and high-quality score for very modest rates.

Sound as a whole is 50% of your film and designing the perfect sound effects takes extraordinary talent and experience. Whether you need an airplane engine crashing through the roof of a house (like in Donnie Darko) or a car flying off of a bridge (like in xXx) or simply two actors walking through the back woods (like in the Blair Witch Project), our award-winning sound designers use their talent, skills and experience in field recording, library acquisitions and sound combinations to build multiple tracks of unique and awe inspiring sound effects.

Dialogue Editing & ADR (Automatic Dialogue Replacement) - This is where experienced and skilled sound editors edit the dialogue, clean up nasty background noises and record ADR where needed, to ensure that every word of every sentence spoken is clear and concise.
Foley Record & Editing – This is where the editor makes sure all footsteps, clothing, doors opening and closing, car sounds and other background sounds are clear and concise and line up with the dialogue and picture.
Background Editing – This is where the backgrounds come together and are edited in with the dialogue, ADR and Foley.

Sound Effects Editing – This is where the effects designed by the Sound Designer are placed into the film alongside the backgrounds and dialogue.
Music Editing – This is where the music is cut into the picture alongside the Sound Effects, Backgrounds and Dialogue to make sure everything lines up properly and is properly placed in the time line for the Mixers to pre-dub, mix and re-record.

The Mix Stage is where everything comes together, all at once. This is where the magic happens. All of the editing from picture, sound and music comes together in one place where, just like a conductor, the supervisor, along with the director decides how the picture works in tandem with music and sound and that one doesn’t fight the other and that they work together to lift the audience our of their seat, bring emotion, rhythm and clarity, where picture editing, VFX, sound design, songs, score, opening and closing title sequences come together for the best final mix. Once we have a Printmaster, it’s time to make the deliverables. Each distributor will have a delivery schedule with a different set of requirements. There’s physical delivery and paper delivery. Paper delivery includes budgets, cost reports, talent contracts, chain of title, title reports, music cue sheets and more. Physical delivery includes the various Printmasters, M&E’s and things like textless materials, behind the scenes, etc. Along with our post house partners, we supervise all the deliverables to ensure everything is delivered correctly and on time.
